Why did I choose this side hustle? I’m Dr. Louise Wen. Essay coach and board certified physician. Working with my essay coaching clients is among the most electric and gratifying experiences of my life. In the very short time that I work with my clients, I get to know them much more intimately than many people I would consider to be close friends. My first impression with my client’s initial personal statement draft is often lukewarm. But then we get to work and I learn about who they are as a person and how that connects with whatever program they’re applying for. We just go back and forth. Question. Answer. Peeling back the layers of who they are. At some point during our session, I’m always blown away and think, wow, you are such an inspiring and awesome human!!!! And then together, we craft an electric personal statement that showcases how this person is truly amazing. Work with me.
